Most packaging is paper and board that can be recycled at home. A small amount of plastic is used where it protects the product, such as postal tube end caps, and that plastic is recycled in-house. Where a bag is needed, we may use compostable film made in the UK from renewable vegetable starch.

We do not describe our packaging as plastic-free. Most of what we send is paper and board. Some orders need a small amount of plastic so the product arrives safely.
Compostable film breaks down into carbon dioxide, water and compost. That can happen in a home composter or a commercial facility. Commercial composting is warmer, so it is quicker. As a guide, the film is specified to break down in about 45 days at a steady 58°C.
The materials depend on the product. Posters in tubes, for example, use recyclable end caps. Bags, when they are used, are the compostable film described above.
